No it was 75 baud down initially. It went up to 1200. BT then had the Internet at its finger tips, long before Berners-Lee got the accolade - for something that already existed - yet BT jacked it in, sold off the product. After the slow baud we got CompuServe. More colourful.
Lebara, no idea about the roaming cost as I don't roam. Having said that I think it is included in SIM only contracts. They don't do wifi calling but they tell me "Yet"! Lebara use Vodafone. I have raised the odd query with Lebara, once was about WiFi calling, and they are always quick to respond. But if something cheaper comes along........!

Haha, Up and Down nomenclature leading us astray there I think. V.23 had a download speed of 1200 bps and a backchannel (upload) speed of 75 bps. The reason for asking about the roaming is that my 3 SIM only deal does roaming although the excellent deal is changing soon from inclusive like at home, to £5 a day!! Thanks for the info on WiFi calling.

My You Fibre contract is 18 months and will see what the market has for me when that expires early 2023. Currently full fibre to the home is much more expensive with the others in the market. The download is just over 500 Mbps. I could have gone for 1000 Mbps but that then was £30 p.m. They provide Amazon’s eero but I use my own mesh system. The Lebara contract is month to month

Sky seem the good-cops overall! I'd never have guessed... Never been a customer of them. I'm with their Now Broadband offshoot, £25 per month for broadband and calls, and it pretty much automatically renews when the contract's up, the only thing that I seem to lose is the discount on my (currently not being used) NowTV packages, but it's still cheaper with them than it was with Plusnet, and my only issue was solved fairly quickly by BTOpenreach

Ah wi-fi calling....noticed when I was in a hospital last week that my phone could not get a signal, but as I now have a recon Apple Mini 12 from handtec, that option allowed me to call my Wife to come and get me.
Last year I added / linked my mobile costs from Virgin Mobile to Virgin broadband, same free calls and text and 5mb of data @ £5 per month. Was a good deal with just a little bit more hassle when I tell virgin I'm off if they don't play this time round. If I used the phone abroad then the costs would go via Virgin Mobile and you set all the restrictions via them. Maybe if I leave Virgin B I'll stick with Virgin M. Lets see. How much bandwidth do you actually need for 2 peeps, not gamers but use streaming to watch the subscription channels? We put both our late mothers on BT's basic bandwidth without cable and worked just as good as our Virgin Cable with over twice the bandwidth.
My wife is with Smarty and gets charged £6 per month, then on average gets excited as gets back .80p per month as she does not use the data. Its a rolling monthly contract and unproblematic.

Now home/washed out.... feeling the joys of Covid and spent the last 5 days in Padstow locked in the holiday gaff horizontally unwell. Mentally the Pasties saved the day and Managed to have 7 glorious days until the blighter got me.
Anyway broadband / mobile update.
Was gonna leave Virgin and low and behold they've launched this new Volt thang with o2. I don't believe in the hype but the package was ok and simplifies future contract renewal.
So my mobile is no longer directly with Virgin and now tied in with o2 costing double £10 peer month, same free calls free text and doubles up on data 10gb plus better terms on international use and more flex on bolts ons if and when needed. Plus some free short term stuff that I can't be bothered with. Brighter easier online platform, I'm not using the APP. If this was totally stand alone then I would not pay this fee but the overall contract is fair or should I say really good...its funny I just don't trust all this manoeuvring.
Broadband reduced to £23 per month including existing home line rental and free weekend calls with some extra Virgin account credit for the last existing month. New contract saving £5 per month.
When contract ends Virgin reckons their £22 discount will be removed so increases to £45 pm then theres o2's fee - this contract splits DD's and I had to provide another email to o2 as there was some unresolved conflict. Might not be as easy to duck out of Virgins CPI increase next year within the contract period along with o2 but credit in the bank provided by the change more than accounts. But never give up on having a go!
Hope Y'all well how many Y'alls are there - Less is more

We're with GiffGaff, largely because I can control both accounts from the same phone. I pay £8 for the 3GB goodybag, and Kate pays £6 for the 1GB, neither of us use anywhere near to all our data. Even though the nearest mast to us is Vodafone, we struggle with signal on any company not using the 02 Network.

I bet you are struttg! I have had it twice, first time before they knew much about what it was (February 2020), last time October 2021. No real problems. Lasted about a week. First time no sore throat or coughing but slight breathing restriction, felt knackered and my voice went hoarse and soft. Her in indoors has hearing issues and she could not hear me! ? A good thing?! It became an effort to speak. Second time the sore throat appeared and more standard symptoms. I was able to get tested for that one. Residual? Some days I feel completely knackered, not sure if that is a symptom, my voice does go occasionally. I think that issue is not going to go. Even a nice pint of beer does not cure it. I had a lovely pint of Bitter & Twisted the other day! I could always use having a pint as an excuse to lubricate!

The usual free calls, WiFi calling, free texts and more or less free data. Broadband is £20 pm for just over 500mps full fibre which is more than enough. No land line. Lebara runs on the back of Vodafone What I don’t understand is I meet with a friend for a drink on a Friday night. We each have the same model of iPhone. He subscribes to Vodafone. Sitting next to him he sometimes struggles to get a Vodafone or wifi signal when I have no issue. Other times it is the other way round. Mutual phone interference? Don’t know.
