I have just received my bill for March-April, and I have noticed that it includes a cancelled bill for gas, but no explanation of why, I've also noticed similar for February-March, but a smaller amount. The bill states that the bills have been recalculated but I can't see any evidence of it. I'm expecting that some time in the future they will recalculate for the whole time I've been with them and hit me with a huge bill. Anyone else experiencing similar?.
I've now put this house on the market and am buying another smaller one, and there is no way that I will be taking Shell with me when I go, as although I usually understand and can calculate by bills, I haven't a clue what's happening with my Shell bills

I take it you have checked the bill against your own readings?

I've managed to find the time to study the bills, it seems that for most months there are numerous readings all counted as customer, but on each bill the end and start periods are duplicated on each resulting in an over calculation. I have gone back to the switchover readings to the latest used, and calculate that it still isn't right, and expect it will be corrected again next month.

Yes, I have that as well Duppy. I'm not very impressed with the bill as a whole, tha numbers show no difference between credit and debit - I can work it out but feel it's a bit confusing. I'm not a Shell fan either.

Yes scubaseahorse I'm not impressed with them at all, my IHD is still showing PP's tariffs, my gas meter hasn't been smart since the switch and any replies to emails don't answer the questions, but only give generic answers, then after you respond, some time later you get an email saying they haven't heard from you so are closing the case. Unfortunately in the current situation, it's difficult to switch unless you go for an inflated fixed deal, and it seems Shell is capitalising on that as no matter how incompetent they are, they know there's nothing you can do about it

Luckily so far have no issues with billing, but note that as of today no statement has arrived for March, which should be dated in line with previous 2 on the 6th.
It doesn't feel consistent, but not sure you will find many energy suppliers that are consistent, with all the turmoil of taking on large influx of new customers. It just doesn't feel right being with Shell Energy, but hey ho BP did not step up and not sure where the alternatives will be and when..............maybe a long time.

I have no issues with Shell other than a recurring problem logging into their web site. Their bill for 5th April was spot on. All was properly calculated with respect to the old rate up to the 31st March and the new thereafter. But costing me more for using less. I have done nothing to reduce consumption and suspect it is weather conditions have helped a little plus I am aware my system does a lot of balancing on itโs own to achieve maximum efficiency. The boiler is running at 99% efficiency and with OpenTherm controlling things the return temperature is often 30C to 40C. What is nice this month is I now have no credit with Shell so they will have to rake what is due via the DD. With PP Winter or Summer I was always in credit and it was getting bigger.

Unfortunately my experience isn't the same, the app worked for about two weeks, now back to being diverted to the web site, my gas smart meter has never been and the electric meter isn't sure as sometimes you can submit readings other times you can't. As said any questions sent aren't answered and there is no way of keeping track, or at least I haven't found it if there is, unlike the wonderful Wattbot where all messages were in the same place. Every statement to now has had some kind of adjustment and recalculation, and even now isn't right, ln answer to my query about the adjustments I have received a reply saying I can check my readings on the statement, not really what I asked, but I will be keeping a much closer eye on matters from now until I get my final bill after moving which unfortunately won't be for a while

Odd we have such different experiences. I wonder if some of your issues Duppy are down to the app used. I am using IOS. I have raised one or two queries with Shell over the past few months and all have always been answered reasonably quickly. That does not mean I will stay with Shell. When the market becomes competitive again that will be the prevailing influence.

Some of the problems may be down to the app, I'm on Android, but it doesn't explain why the meters are smart/not smart, or the billing deficiencies. As it is the IHD is giving false cost analysis do I've kept it on kWh usage and work it out myself. The only thing it's good for is checking the readings without crawling on hands and knees. I don't mind getting them, it's getting back up I have the problem with. I did check with the vendor of the house I'm buying, apparently it's with SSE, is that good or bad?

Where the meter is located sounds more important! ๐

@25 quid if you are referring to the placement of the meters in the new home, they are dumb meters fitted in cupboards about waist height, with easy Access

Still no Bill so I thought I would use the Chat Box that that took me to a DM and was advised the next day that bills are still pending....being worked on...or something. So billing appears to lack consistency. Guess the tin heads are overworked and under pressure. Feel sorry for wattBot who now is just a number.
Got a text stating save the planet and get a smart meter - No no not for us - the spread advises all and not subject to this and that.
On a positive front spoke to my mate in NZ today who is a soil biologist thing a me thang and stated if the world does not change its ways we have about 50 harvests left until the top soil is caput.
Anyway gonna empty and mix our 3 composters and mix with some incinerated docs which apparently is good...not sure the incinerating was. So will question the 50% on the pros and cons. Or more formal the benefits and implication's.
Did you know that a Tesla car battery can weigh over half a tonne...
