As some of you might know I will be moving soon, I have a WiFi module in my Geo Trio2 IHD, as supplied by PP on the WiFi trial. If anyone wants it let me know and I'll send it to you

@25 quid I asked the present owner if he had an IHD, but he told me he didn't have one, apparently the new house was built approximately 3 years ago, smart meters were fitted by default, but as is the case with a lot of new build houses the IHD isn't supplied in case it goes missing. He did ask his supplier, (Shell ) for one but he's still waiting for it. gwyndy had a smart meter fitted recently and they gave him a chameleon IHD, ( which apparently doesn't or didn't work ) so I assume that is the make they would supply if I ever did get one off them

As far as I know they are, BUT, they have to be paired to the electricity meter, and that needs to be done by the suppliers and/or the DCC. When with PP I had to do a factory reset on my IHD, it had to be reconnected by the smart meter team by them giving me access codes to input

I will get you the info on the meter and IHD I was supplied with later, I can't get to them right now.

I can imagine one of the questions of a seller from the buyer in the run up to signing contracts “Please confirm there is an IHD.” Except I can see the typo appearing - “Please confirm there is an IUD.” I suppose the right answer will then be “Inspection will reveal.”

Finally, as mentioned above and in other posts I have a date for the move, Friday 19/8 It hasn't been straight forward, the sale held up by the correct paperwork not being produced, has delayed the purchase, but our buyer and estate agent has been pushing as the mortgage offer expires on the 19th and has already been extended once. As the house we are buying is empty, the owner and his agent has offered to allow us to move in before the sale is completed, this of course is not without risk, but I have been assured that the hold up in the paperwork has/is being worked on and should be presented soon, wary of the fact that the buyers could change their minds due to the mortgage issue, we have accepted and will be moving on Friday. We have even been allowed to access the house to give it a clean up before moving. The new home is also with Shell Energy and has Landys&Gyr smets 1 meters, although at present I have no idea if they are sending automatic readings, and there is no IHD, but I will be asking for one, luckily I now know how to read them. So that's it boxes packed, van booked it's the end of an era. We have been here 32 years but the house is too big for us now, as the daughter is moving out soon as she is getting married. The new house is smaller, newer and better insulated and hopefully I will have lower bills than at present and the little bit of equity will give us a buffer in these difficult times.
I have removed the WiFi module, so if anyone does want it let me know

Good luck with the move. If contracts have been exchanged for the sale and purchase then the risk moving in is minimal. If they have not there always is a risk something goes wrong at the last moment. The problem with lawyers and conveyancers today is that the level of qualification for those doing this work is not great and they have a tick box mentality or it is imposed on them such that if they cannot tick the box they cannot move forward. An inability to make a sensible judgment. It is not much solace to say the quickest I have come across from the moment the lawyer was instructed to completing the whole deal and moving with all paperwork done was just under 48 hours. Probably nearer 36 hours.

The contract for the sale has been exchanged with completion on Friday. The purchase however is held up due to the paperwork issues. The estate agent has sold houses on this nearly new estate before and hasn't come across this problem before, and he thinks it's the sellers solicitors that are lacking, and has done a lot of the chasing paperwork himself to try expedite the process, he did actually say the sellers solicitors were the worst he has ever dealt with but informed me that it should only be a week or two before completion, it's in his interest anyway as he won't be paid until completion

You have the security of the exchange. Which is good. Although there is one occasion when an exchange does not help you. If a seller dies after exchanging contracts the executors or administrators can withdraw the sale. Keep your seller alive! As you have an exchange and a completion date interest is chargeable if one side does not honour his or her obligation! Perhaps the solicitors should pay it!!

Unfortunately only the sale has exchanged, the purchase has not, it's been held up due to the incorrect/incomplete paperwork being presented by their solicitor. The vendor has allowed us to move in prior to exchange and completion, as the house is unoccupied. The vendors agent has arranged an interim no charge tenancy agreement just to keep things legal until the sale is completed.

I hope today is still the day for you to enjoy your new place Duppy. Looking forward to the house-warming... 😊 Indeed it was @25 quid, surrounded by boxes and more in storage. How is it possible to accumulate so much stuff. I've also got a load of stuff in a storage unit and there is no way it's all going to fit in the house, oh the joys of downsizing

I reckon accumulated house clutter is like putting weight on one doughnut at at time. 😂 Good luck getting to know the local charity shops and auction house...
