Anybody been invited by Shell to join the energy saving evening project promoted by the National Grid?

No, but I joined the turn down and save scheme on my loop app, which is effectively the same and you can only join one scheme

Nope, me neither. All quiet. But as I have a dumb meter, I guess I can't come to the party.
Coincidentally, the gas folk are about to interrupt my supply (to fit new mains pipework in the road). They have communicated the hell out of that and tomorrow is my cold day. No easy switch offs for gas supplies, unlike smart electric meters. 😈
I'll have to cave eventually, but meanwhile, I remain a low-tech holdout.

Yep holding it out in my view is the best policy until things pan out and or you're dragged to the party. It's all a bit too controlling....smart for who!
Interesting to see what the average user saved with this experiment?

I would love to know how they do the comparison, on Tuesday 17/1/23 between the hours of 16.30-18.00, I used 0.8kwh, on Tuesday 24/1/23 during the scheme hours of 16.30-18.00 I used 3.7kwh. Yesterday I got an email saying I had hit the reduction target and reduced my usage by 436Wh and earned £1.09. It doesn't make any sense

Sounds like plenty of opportunity to game the system — if only you could make sense of it!
I was chatting to my gas fitter yesterday (as he reconnected me after the new street pipework was installed). I asked how common are smart meters? He estimated about 25% of people have them and then offered that he does not have one as they're too unreliable. Stuff goes wrong and they cut off the gas — requiring a visit from him!
