I too wish that, Pure Planet was the best utilities company I've ever had, and would have no hesitation in returning if they were somehow reformed in the future

Equally, it's the best renewable energy to work for!

I’d happily return. And I was glad to see how people have rallied around with their nice words for the team since Wednesday. For weeks it’s just been negativity so it has been so nice to see get emotional seeing some of the comments I bet the team must have a tissue supply when they are about to Log in.

PP’s problem though was it was always struggling, it’s debt was mounting up and it had big loans to refinance in about 12 months. A year ago I had my doubts about its future. It seems from what it has said it had only forward bought to the Spring so would never be able to serve the fixed price contracts many had without the debt getting bigger and bigger. The current crisis was probably the last straw for BG, particularly when it could do so losing very little.

Wouldn't PP have hedged the energy cost for the full term of each fixed deal?

Wouldn't PP have hedged the energy cost for the full term of each fixed deal? That's the confusing thing, you would have thought that PP would forward buy for the length of the fixed deals, but they said they had hedged to next spring and beyond, so if prices remain at the present level closing would have been inevitable. I wonder if the number of customers rolling onto the variable tariff ( which we were advising them to do ) had something to do with it, as their energy may not have been bought in advance. Of course in normal times the variable tariff is a viable option, but at the moment each variable tariff is a loss maker, along with all the fixed deals that extended beyond the period for which the energy was purchased

Yes, I suspect increasing numbers rolling onto the loss-making variable certainly didn't help!

I don't no why it came to mind this morning, used to play it lots approx the summer of 1980...some weird emotion now that the PP community has gone which was very unique from the beginning to the end. - Actually still one of the best Brit Funk Albums, in my view that is.
