So I was playing with some one else's Shell IHD: And noticed that often the usage is in the hundreds of Watts. There's a related story about where all that is going, but that's not for now. So far so good. But when you put the kettle on a figure such as 253 W might change to 2.42 kW. Glancing at that it doesn't look any bigger, but in fact is 10 times bigger and there's a tiny new decimal point and a k in front of the W units. I thought maybe the LCD only has 3 digits. No, look at the first picture again, it has 5. So why on earth don't they show the larger combustion as a four digit number such as 2421 W? That would catch the eye much better! Anyway, I couldn't take a picture of it with the kettle on as it's having one of its regular, I can't cope, moments (for the last hour!) 🙄

Everything will be alright when AI takes over. AI re organises carbon unit functions and smart gizmos receive counselling.

My IHD ( fitted by Shell ) is a different make, and I can change the display to show the cost instead of units. It brings home exactly how much it's going to cost with usage now or usage today/this week/month, the display above is showing the cost but it's not prominent enough to make a difference

Carbon units aside. This IHD can show costs in large print too for today, the week, the month, the year so far. It's just that particular view that seems silly to me.
Plus what's the point of a budget? One budget suitable for the whole year makes no sense when looking at a day. Do you set it for typical winter usage? Summer? It'll need resetting regularly. Anyway, I should stop moaning. It's working again today! 🤣
