I've just done it and it appeared to of worked with the £50 credit link. Lowered the Shell DD but in essence they owe me and had Shells standard leaving email. Called Octopus about something else with quick phone pick up and responsive. Feels good leaving Shell. It was bound to happen and I should of done it weeks ago. Cheers!

struttg do you have a smart meter? My switch only took two days

Hey Duppy, no smart meter and I guess thats a switching advantage.
However, Octopus will ask for the meter reads on the 5th so thats quick.
If this was not a go to it moment I would of resourced process allowing for switch date choice. I would have started on the 1st October which would aligned with my spread sheet. But hey ho it's no odds. I like the way Octopus have set out their platform all very slick and easy to groove around. First impressions - they have a good system in place with peeps who know what they're doing with joined up thinking.

It was a very quick transfer completion which took approx 6 days - almost a slick process. However, the DD dates advised by email notification v online account advice did not match in all regards. So far this has played to my advantage and I'm not bothered as the payment upfront has not happened and shell owe me few squids.
Email and phone call responses are prompt and friendly.
I like their ethos and recommended Bulb and Octopus to a mate a few years ago when I first joined PP and during conversations with both suppliers back then - impressed. For the record PP was not the right fit for my mate who had 3 meters and during the conversations with Bulb and Octopus that was not a problem - he chose Bulb and ended up with Octopus.
Last week I joined an interactive survey via Shells thang and I advised them in advance that I had already scarpered which was acknowledged by the platform as ok. The interactive thang was ok. I'm not interested in combining energy with Broadband deals.....don't like all the eggs in one basket and you can negotiate with BB suppliers.
Made that mistake with Virgin BB and mobile. Mobile is now under this Volt deal with o2 and I'm defo not renewing with o2 when I renew in the coming months.

struttg glad to see it went smoothly, like you I didn't pay anything upfront, and communication was answered fairly quickly. I wonder though if it will continue, as Octopus gets bigger, will the customer service suffer? Time will tell. I also have virgin BB with an O2 SIM on volt, but I am now wondering whether to stay with virgin as my BB provider following on from the changes to their conditions re pricing, you can leave without exit fees before 31/10, but most providers are doing the same and the few that don't are not available in this area, my O2 deal expires in June anyway and there are cheaper sim only deals out there

Duppy Considering that the tentacles have already grown during the industry melt down then their responses appear to be consistent from a few years ago. So I'll remain optimistic in a world where logical standards of customers service are going down the pan. Most likely I'll stay with Virgin as theres lots of competition where I live and I perceive they'll play ball... otherwise I'll go. o2 is not for me and its expensive for what I need and can get the same for a lot less. My Wife's with Smarty and gets money back as she never uses the data. On another subject my latest appalling service experience both digital and human is NWBnk (not NWBSoc) and cannot believe how crap they are. Complete disconnect on their rubbish processes. They obviously don't run on first impressions really count. Anyway pulled out and never never again.

My swap to tentacles went ok, but Shell still have a big credit dollop. I pointed out to Octopissy that a part of their website doesn't initially work (for the first few hours after transfer, for both me and my mum) and some of their wording has poor contrast — they are in denial still about it.

Shell final bill only took 4 weeks. Joined Octopus 5th first DD 25th. I decided to send meter readings adhoc mid month and automatically got a statement. So I assume and recollect that your can get a statement when you want. So will see how the end of the end of the month readings stack up. Octopus did the switch within 5 days.

Yep when providing readings you get a statement in a few hours or so. Got the £50 squids energy credit after being referred. Sent a referral to an interested mate. Plus reduced my next DD to suit our usage retaining a slice in my squeezes account. No complaints.
